Links
I didn’t want to have a ridiculous list of links to useful sites in the side bar so I thought I would include a Page for them. Links pages are rarely visited but it might help someone find something new to read and it may even help with the Google ratings of those whose sites they are.
Richard Dawkins has become a bit of a personal hero. His promotion of science and rational thinking is priceless and his website has many interesting news articles about science as well as many videos of interviews and things. Definitely worth a visit.
The Skeptics Guide to the Universe
This is the best Podcast out there. It comes out on a weekly basis and is run by some very entertaining and intelligent skeptics. It has been running for a few years and has over 200 episodes. I have learnt a lot from these guys and their segments like “Name that logical fallacy” and their deconstruction of mainstream media news articles have shown me how cold hard logic can help you know what information you can trust.
This is another skeptical blog and is helped run by the lovely Rebecca Watson from the Skeptics Guide to the Universe. It is full of interesting news stories and blog articles and run almost entirely by women! One of their main goals is to promote science to young women who they fear would otherwise be sucked into the stupid mindset set by the mainstream media.
A science blog run by the legendary and notorious biologist Professor PZ Myers. Full of interesting science and skeptical news articles helping to spread the good word. PZ Myers was tricked into participating in the anti-evolution propaganda film Expelled and was completely mis-represented, he later managed to tacitly infiltrate a conference call between the makers of Expelled so he could ask some questions. The whole ordeal was hilarious and fortunately recorded.
This is the Guardian science columnists and respected physician Ben Goldachre’s blog. He blogs about Bad Science in the media with a focus on bogus treatments and generally anything health related.
This is the blog of the famous Psychologist and Magician. He blogs skeptically about paranormal topics such as ghost stories and ESP and often runs large scale psychological experiments. He has an interest in useful and common psychology, things like the worlds funniest joke or the best pick-up lines to use, it is an area of study he calls Quirkology and has written an excellent book on the subject sharing the same name.
I think that is enough links for now. I will probably update this more when I am not at work and when I remember some of the other websites I frequent.
